Cinnabar crystals with a Quartz framing

Aesthetic specimen of Cinnabar crystals with a Quartz framing!

A famous locality for Cinnabar, this is a heavily covered plate with hundreds of crystals atop small Quartz points. Only minor contacts near the edges, the color is very good with a nice luster. Mining in this locality began in 1885 and didn't end until 1994. This specimen dates to the 1960s.

From the Sofiya Mine, Nikitovka Deposit, Novyi Donbass, Gorlovka, Donets'k Oblast', Ukraine.
Measures 10 cm by 8 cm by 4.1 cm in total size.
